The CBC/Radio-Canada Vancouver Redevelopment Project was a combination of renovation and new construction to the CBC's Vancouver broadcast station. This 30-year-old facility was upgraded over three years to make the organization fully HD compliant including news, editing, distribution and sharing of digital news stories within the organization and broadcast. The new station has a 21,000-sq-ft HD newsroom where all architectural elements are designed to be 16:9 friendly. Scope of work involved demolition, renovation and new construction, all while the facility was fully operational. All activities were coordinated and scheduled based on noise and dust control, and moving the various CBC operations around the facility. This required extensive discussions and cooperation among construction forces, CBC and the design team.
