Grandview Cogeneration Project

Our partner Aecon Industrial was the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the erection of a 90MW cogeneration plant at the Irving Oil Refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. The project involved installing two new natural gas fired General Electric LM6000 Gas Turbine Generator packages onto two existing heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) units, and also included new 35kV ties to the utility grid. Aecon's construction scope included civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, and control installations. Aecon was also responsible for the design engineering, procurement of balance of plant equipment, start-up, pre-commissioning, commissioning support and testing services. Overall completion of the plant was achieved in the fall of 2004 with commercial operation in December 2004.
