London Aviation Centre

A design-build development of an 84,000-sq-ft corporate airline hangar and 2-storey office facility for London Air Services at Vancouver Airport. This structure utilizes a steel building system to facilitate the 366-ft clear span required for the movement and storage of LAS’s fleet of Global, Challenger and Lear jets, Helicopters and Boeing BBJs. The construction of the hanger primarily used recycled materials, such as 60% recycled steel and 100% of the existing concrete slab, which was crushed and reused to fill the base of the new structure. A "cool roof" was installed to maintain consistent and efficient heat levels throughout the hanger, while pulse start lighting, low energy boiler system and low roc paint were used to keep the project as environmentally friendly as possible.
