This 125,000-sq-ft UBC Biodiversity museum and Zoology Department laboratory has gained attention for its unique glass enclosure that will house a blue whale skeleton. The glass, metal and wood exterior surrounds a lanscaped courtyard designed as a tranquil place for students and teachers, which lies over the museum that will house biodiversity artifacts. As a part of its green design, the simple concrete interior is naturally ventilated with exterior sunshades to protect against overheating, the building also features a green roof and energy efficient light fixtures.
