The Ferry Building is a municipally designated heritage site. Heritage and cultural facilities are a vital part of the District of West Vancouver's vision to create a community that is livable, vibrant, and inclusive. The Ferry Building Restoration includes raising the building in its current location in order to protect it from rising flood levels due to the impacts of climate change. Seismic and envelope upgrades and accessibility improvements, including constructing accessible washrooms, are also part of the project. The 108-year-old Ferry Building continues as a community art gallery with its restoration completion.
