The McTaggart Cowan Hall Student Residence Renewal involved a comprehensive upgrade to the building envelope and mechanical ventilation systems at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby Campus. Scott Construction delivered Phase 2 of the renewal program, which included full replacement of the vertical building envelope on all elevations, installation of a rooftop heat recovery ventilation system to improve indoor air quality and energy efficiency, and construction of a new garbage enclosure with envelope-integrated architectural detailing.
Work was undertaken within an active and operational campus environment. Detailed logistics planning, phasing, and access control strategies were implemented to maintain student circulation, ensure safety, and minimize disruption to building occupants and campus operations.
